On October 10, 2017, FIRM signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT).  The press releases have been issued by FIRM as well as ISCT respectively.

Forum for Innovative Regenerative Medicine (FIRM) organized the session to present its activities and exchange views with
the media on January 26, 2017. FIRM will continue to make every effort to disseminate necessary information to them.

In January 2016, FIRM has released the FIRM Standards and Guidelines on points to be noted on transportation of cell processing products for regenerative medical products and has been disseminating the referred FIRM Standards and Guidelines since then.
This time, FIRM planned and organized the Explanatory Seminar on the referred FIRM Standards and Guidelines, to provide further details including case examples in the field of transportation in the regenerative medicine field.  FIRM hoped that it would be a good opportunity for the participants to deepen their understanding of the transportation in the regenerative medicine field.

As one of the collaborative activities at FIRM between its Standardization Committee and Supporting Industries Committee,
and under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, activities have been conducted for establishing
international standardizations in the area of regenerative medicine industry and related fields.
This time, the new work item proposal on establishing specification of cell transportation has been submitted from Japan
and approved for the ISO/TC 276 Biotechnology through relevant international selection procedures (as of December 12, 2016).
The approved proposal is one of the outcomes from our activities at FIRM on establishing specification of cell transportation.

FIRM organized the Event for Exchange of Views (for its Members), from 13:30pm on Thursday, November 17, at Bellesale Tokyo Nihonbashi in Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
The event was successfully held, with participation of 159 persons.
We had the honor of having the special guests from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan; Ministry of Health, Labour and  Welfare, Japan; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan; and Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA).

Regenerative Medicine Japan 2016, for the very first time, was co-organized by FIRM, at Pacifico Yokohama, from October 12 to 14, 2016,
coinciding with the organization of the Bio Japan 2016.  Both exhibitions were successfully completed, having approximately 15,000 people.

FIRM had the booths set up at the Regenerative Medicine Japan and held the Open Stage Seminars during the three day period, October 12-14,

The Cell and Gene Meeting on the Mesa was held in La Holla, Calinfornia, USA, on October 5-7, 2016.
FIRM organized the Japan Workshop and Japan Lunch Meeting as well as had FIRM booth set up during the Meeting.
At the Japan Workshop, the presentations were made on perspectives on doing regenerative medicine business in Japan
and Japanese regulations in the field. Positive responses were received from the attendees.
The occasion helpd FIRM to further disseminate globally the information on Japanese regenerative medicine industry.
